Access control for residential buildings: no more lock changes every time a key is lost

Bike stores, bin stores, cellars, boiler rooms, roof terraces: each common area has its own key, and each lost key costs a cylinder. With iLOQ, residents and contractors open with a smart key, a fob or their smartphone, and lost access is blocked remotely.

The challenges

Common-area keys, a never-ending headache

Property managers and residents' committees know it well: key management means costs, requests and friction.

Cylinders to replace

A lost bike-store or cellar key means a new cylinder and new keys for every resident concerned.

Uncontrolled copies

Former tenants, removal firms, tradespeople: nobody knows how many keys are really in circulation.

Contractors to let in

Cleaning, lift maintenance, heating, meter readings: every visit means handing over keys or arranging an appointment.

What iLOQ changes

Simple access for residents, controlled by the manager

Each key, fob or smartphone receives only the rights it needs. The manager changes them remotely, without travelling.

Lost key, blocked right

A lost key or fob is disabled remotely in seconds. No cylinder to replace.

One key per resident

The same smart key opens the cellar, bike store and bin store, according to the rights granted.

Scheduled contractor access

Contractors receive access limited to certain rooms and time slots, straight to their smartphone.

No batteries, no cables

No works in common areas and no batteries to monitor: power comes from the key or phone.

Entry history

If something happens in a room, the time-stamped history shows which keys opened it.

Fits existing doors

iLOQ cylinders replace current cylinders, in standard sizes.

FAQ

FAQ: access control for residential buildings

Is a vote of the co-owners required?

Equipping common areas usually requires a decision of the co-owners' general meeting. Your property manager will tell you which majority applies; we provide a detailed quote and a presentation to prepare the vote.

What happens if a resident loses their key?

The manager blocks its rights remotely in iLOQ Manager and issues a new key. No cylinder is replaced and other residents are not affected.

Do residents need a smartphone?

No. Residents can use an iLOQ S5 smart key or a fob. Smartphones are mainly useful for contractors and staff.

Can we equip only some rooms?

Yes. You can start with the most sensitive rooms (bike store, cellars, plant rooms) and extend later: the system is scalable.
